As July draws to a close, India is experiencing an overall excess in monsoon rainfall, with the country receiving 9-10% more rain than average for the month.

The accident has sent shockwaves through the region, highlighting the dangers of travelling on the hilly and often treacherous roads of Jammu and Kashmir. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and efforts are underway to determine the exact cause of the driver losing control.

On July 24, vigilant troops observed suspicious movement and challenged the terrorists, who responded with indiscriminate fire. In the ensuing firefight, one terrorist was eliminated, and a non-commissioned officer (NCO) was injured. The operation is ongoing, the Chinar Corps stated in a post on X.

This follows the recent tragic loss of four Army personnel, including an officer, who were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Doda district. Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D. Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay were martyred in the line of duty.

In the last three months, the Indian Army lost 9 soldiers fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, while neutralizing five terrorists. Other security forces also faced casualties. The spike in attacks is attributed to terrorists' advanced tactics and reduced troop deployment. Former Pakistan Army soldiers now lead these operations, utilizing jungle terrain for concealment.

In a tragic encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, four Indian Army soldiers, including a Major, lost their lives. The clash, which also left five soldiers critically injured, follows another deadly attack in Kathua. Terrorist activities, spreading across Jammu, have resulted in 48 soldiers killed in the past 32 months.

The injured personnel were swiftly evacuated to a hospital for treatment. According to officials, the terrorists launched the attack by throwing a grenade at the convoy and then opening fire. The security forces retaliated, but the assailants managed to escape into the nearby forest.

Five Army personnel were killed and six injured after terrorists attacked a military convoy on the Machedi-Kindli-Malhar road in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district, about 150 km from Kathua, on Monday (July 8).

This incident comes amidst a series of terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Just weeks ago, Doda district witnessed twin terror attacks. On June 11, six security personnel sustained injuries in an attack on a joint check post at Chattargalla.
