The PDP manifesto outlines a series of socio-economic measures aimed at easing the burdens on the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Among the promises, Mufti announced free electricity of up to 200 units for residents, the abolition of water taxes, and the removal of water meters.

Speaking to reporters before the meeting, Rahul Gandhi stressed that the alliance would respect the Congress party's workers. He assured that the coalition would be formed while upholding the dignity and contributions of Congress members.

To tackle rising militant threats, Jammu & Kashmir police have established 19 special counter-terrorism units across eight districts. Each unit, led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, will focus on both counter-terror operations and routine crime prevention.

A cloudburst in Damhal Hanjipora, Kulgam, early Thursday caused one death and injured three others. The severe weather struck the Banward area, leading to extensive damage. Captain Deepak of the 48 Rashtriya Rifles was killed in action during an encounter with militants in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. Four terrorists were believed to be gunned down. The operation, ongoing since Tuesday, led to the recovery of weapons. This incident comes just before Independence Day celebrations.

In response to a recent surge in terror-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened a high-level meeting on Wednesday.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police intensified security by releasing sketches of four terrorists seen in Kathua district and offering a Rs 5 lakh reward for information. This follows a series of terror incidents, including deadly attacks on army personnel and pilgrims in the region.
