The DGCA has sought a detailed report from Air India following reports that an aircraft intended for a scheduled flight was repurposed to fly the Indian cricket team from Barbados, officials disclosed on Wednesday.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)-licensed FTO at Belora airport in Amravati is slated to commence operations by the first quarter of the financial year 2026. It aims to graduate 180 commercial pilots annually and will feature 31 single-engine and 3 twin-engine aircraft exclusively dedicated to training purposes.

Air India is all set to launch premium economy class on selected domestic routes from July 2024. As of now, Vistara is the only Indian airline to offer premium economy services on domestic flights.

Air India is reportedly setting up a flying school in Maharashtra’s Amravati. The school is expected to train as many as 180 pilots a year. While the school will cater to internal requirements initially, the Tata Group that owns the airline, sees potential in catering to external needs in the future too.

A flight belonging to carrier IndiGo landed on the Runway 27 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport while an Air India flight was still taking off.The near miss incident involved two Airbus A320neos.

Passengers aboard an Air India Express flight from Pune to Kochi faced terror as an engine caught fire shortly after departing Bengaluru. The plane, carrying 179 passengers and 6 crew members, made an emergency landing back in Bengaluru after the fire erupted. Despite the frightening experience, all passengers were safely evacuated. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

It is reportedly said that the collision caused damage to one of the aircraft's wings and a tyre. The incident occurred as the Air India AI-858 flight, carrying around 180 passengers, was preparing for departure from Pune at 4 PM. Despite the collision, all passengers and crew on board were reported safe.

At the heart of the controversy lies the glorification of Talwinder Parmar, a figure revered by the Khalistani sect of the Sikh community, who consider him a martyr. Parmar is alleged to be the mastermind behind the Air India bombing 1985, a tragedy that claimed as many as 329 people lives.

Air India Express has sacked at least 25 cabin crew, a day after nearly 300 employees of the airline called in sick and switched off their phones, leading to large-scale flight disruptions. The number of job terminations are likely to increase beyond 25.

It has arrived at Seattle Paine Field International Airport to be dismantled for parts. Last year, the aircraft was de-registered by the DGCA and underwent a transformation, including removal of Air India insignia and titles, before receiving a temporary American registration, N940AS.
