In today's statement, Election Commission said that Team Eknath Shinde could keep the name 'Shiv Sena' and the 'bow and arrow' symbol, while the Uddhav Thackeray faction can keep the name 'Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray' and the 'flaming torch' symbol.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regularly claimed that Uddhav Thackeray, as chief minister, would rarely leave Mumbai, despite pressing issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown and heavy rains distressing farmers.

"I want to thank the Election Commission. This is Balasaheb's legacy's triumph. Ours is the real Shiv Sena. We formed the Maharashtra government (with the BJP) last year with Bala saheb's thoughts in mind," said Eknath Shinde.

The MVA includes the NCP, Thackeray's Sena, and Congress. The three-party coalition ruled from 2019 to the end of June last year. Thackeray's government collapsed after a rebellion by his party's senior leader Eknath Shinde and his supporting MLAs, who later formed an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and came to power.

Mumbai Suburban District Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha directed the Suburban District Collector to remove Tipu Sultan's name from the park in Malad. "If it must be named, we will follow the proper procedure. Nobody wants Tipu Sultan's name to be associated with the park," said Lodha.

On the eve of the birth anniversary of late Anand Dighe, considered the mentor of CM Eknath Shinde, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray inaugurated a massive medical camp in Thane city on Thursday. "I am satisfied that the Shiv Sena has not moved away from its goal despite the current foul situation. We have genuine Shiv Sainiks on our side," said Thackeray.

"It's the truth, you can ask any police officer about it. They will let you know," said BJP senior leader Devendra Fadnavis. Following the collapse of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government, Devendra Fadnavis returned as the Deputy chief minister of Maharashtra.
