Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized BJP leaders Modi and Shah for their participation in the Maha Kumbh, questioning if a dip in the Ganga could solve poverty and hunger. He emphasized India's real issues and called for unity while apologizing if his remarks offended religious sentiments.

Earlier, people who returned from border areas used to say that they have visited the last village of India, but the Modi government has changed this narrative with people now saying that they have visited the first village of India, Shah said.

On December 31, Shah will have a breakfast meeting with party leaders, after which he will lay the foundation stone for the Central Intelligence Training Institute and inaugurate ITBP's residential and non-residential complexes.

The meeting will take place in the midst of protests by the Kashmiri Pandit community seeking security and some of them fleeing the valley in the aftermath of the targeted killings. In addition to key security personnel, Jammu and Kashmir K LG Manoj Sinha will be present at the meeting.

"We completely reject the comments made by the Chinese official spokesperson. Indian leaders routinely travel to the state of Arunachal Pradesh as they do to any other state of India," Bagchi said.

The news comes as senior BJP leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, have been having marathon sessions at the BJP headquarters in preparation for Assembly elections in UP and other states.
