Days after the fire on Navy warship INS Brahmaputra, the body of the missing sailor has been recovered. As per Naval officials, the body has Leading Seaman Sitendra Singh has been recovered after days of diving operations.
 

The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a 10% reservation for former Agniveers in the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and Assam Rifles, along with age and physical fitness relaxations. This decision, driven by PM Modi and Home Minister Shah, aims to utilize their experience in enhancing security forces.

For the procurement of weapons, equipment and hardware, the government has provisioned Rs 1.72 lakh crore for this financial year against Rs 1.71 lakh crore previous year. Out of Rs 1.70 lakh crore, the government has earmarked Rs 1.05 lakh crore for domestic capital procurements.

Indian Navy spokesperson Commander Vivek Madhwal said that a sailor is missing and the naval team is tracing him. He also said that the INS Brahmaputra is resting on one side after the fire incident onboard the frigate.

In a post on X, the Indian Army announced about her deployment in Siachen. “Breaking Barriers... Conquering Challenges... Captain Supreetha C T joins the league of #SiachenWarriors. With her enduring strength & determination, she is now operationally deployed at the world's highest battlefield #Siachen,” the Army said.

Sources in the defence establishment said that a few companies of the special forces and three infantry battalions of Indian Army have been deployed in the region. In last three months, Indian Army lost its 11 bravehearts fighting the militants in different parts of the Jammu region.

It should be noted that the government has been focussing on self-reliance in the defence sector and on several occasions the Services chiefs have mentioned that if you want to win the wars of future the weapons and equipment should be indigenous.

This follows the recent tragic loss of four Army personnel, including an officer, who were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Doda district. Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D. Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay were martyred in the line of duty.

A Comoros-flagged oil tanker with 16 crews including 13 Indians onboard capsized off Oman, according to the Maritime Security Centre. The tanker was reportedly heading to the Yemeni port of Aden and capsized off Oman's major industrial port of Duqm.

In its order, the defence ministry stated that“these items will only be procured from the Indian industry after the timelines of indigenisation as indicated in the list available on the MoD’s Srijan portal (https://srijandefence.gov.in).”
