The manufacturing of the defence items would be carried out under the Make-in-India program through transfer of technology. The joint ventures will produce spare parts, components among others to meet the Indian Armed Forces’ requirements.

This variant of the AK-200 series, using the 7.62×39mm cartridge, ensures high quality and meets India's defence needs. Production, under Make in India initiatives, aims for 100% local manufacturing of over 60,000 rifles.

India's defence production surged by 16.7% to Rs 1.27 lakh crore in the fiscal year 2023-24, up from Rs 1.09 lakh crore in 2022-23, marking a significant boost to the government’s "Atmanirbhar Bharat" campaign.
