Just after his training, Sepoy Dhakane, who hailed from Talegaon village of Nasik district in Maharashtra, was posted to the high altitude area of Jammu & Kashmir as his first assignment where counter-insurgency operations were on.

Aircraft Carrier INS Vikramaditya has been undergoing a major refit since January 2021. The retrofit has been delayed due to multiple reasons, including the recent fire onboard the aircracft carrier. That is, perhaps, why the Navy has been pressing for a third aircraft carrier for a long time

The Indian Army said: "Sepoy Rohin Kumar was a brave, highly motivated and sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty."

In his citation, the Indian Army said: "The gallantry, leadership and devotion to duty displayed by Major Aima was unparalleled. For his exceptional bravery, leadership, camaraderie and supreme sacrifice, Major Sushil Aima was awarded the Kirti Chakra posthumously."

The incident reportedly happened on Friday when the family was travelling from Delhi to Jodhpur to receive the Indian Air Force pilot's mortal remains. Sherbir Panag, a financial crimes and corporate governance lawyer, took to Twitter to narrate the incident on board the IndiGo aircraft immediately it landed in Jodhpur.
