Uddhav Thackeray was referring to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president J P Nadda's comments that only an ideology-driven party like the BJP will survive in the future, while other (parties) ruled by families will perish.

Thackeray's remark comes amid the arrest of his close aide Sanjay Raut by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case related to a slum redevelopment scam.

The Rajya Sabha member, who is in the Uddhav Thackeray camp of the Shiv Sena, had denied any wrongdoing and alleged that he was being targeted due to political vendetta. As the investigation agency started its search earlier on Sunday, the Sena leader had said in a tweet, "I vow by late Balasabheb Thackeray that I have nothing to do with any fraud."

The action was taken after Raut missed its summons twice, citing the upcoming session of Parliament, and asked for a delay until August 7. On July 1, he was questioned once over the matter.

"The majority of Marathis have contributed to Maharashtra's progress. The glory of Maharashtra is Mumbai," the statement added.

Uddhav Thackeray stated that his party will have its CM once again and that he will begin rejuvenating the party in August.

The Shiv Sena chief termed the rebels as rotten tree leaves that should be shed. He explained that this would be beneficial to the tree as it will produce new leaves.

The Election Commission has ordered both Sena factions to provide documentary evidence and written statements by August 8 to determine who represents the Maharashtra party.

The Thackeray faction and the Shinde camp have also been asked to write down their views on the party split caused by Shinde's revolt.

The decision comes as the Shiv Sena and the NCP are in disarray following the BJP-backed rebellion, with many leaders offering their own explanations for the fall of the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government.
