To a query on different statements being given by Rajasthan leaders Gehlot and Pilot amid their power tussle, he said, "It will not affect the yatra and both the leaders are assets to the Congress party."

Reacting to this, senior Congress leader Manish Tewari said the Assam Chief Minister was sounding like a "petty troll". Rahul Gandhi has been seen sporting a beard during the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra, a mass contact initiative of the Congress.

BJP leader Amit Malviya tweeted, "Apart from restoring Rahul Gandhi's credibility as a leader, his Yatra has only served to enable the rise of a self-serving coterie around him, which is doing more harm than good. But who are these people eager to associate with Rahul Gandhi for some money?"

"Only because they share a good relationship with BJP, nothing happened to them? They nabbed two watchmen and arrested them but did nothing against those actually responsible," the Congress leader said.
