Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, recently disqualified from the Parliament after being sentenced to two years in prison over a 2019 defamation case, may challenge his conviction and sentencing in the Surat sessions court on Monday, media reports said.

"Some people are sitting inside the country to support these people and some are doing their work sitting outside the country. These people have been continuously trying to spoil and tarnish Modi's image," he said.

BJP leader BS Yediyurappa, who is also a former Chief Minister of Karnataka, ruled out the possibility of his son BY Vijayendra contesting from the Varuna constituency and said that he will only contest from Shikaripura.

Lalit Modi, slamming Rahul Gandhi for his Modi surname remarks, on Thursday said he would sue the Congress leader. Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from the Lok Sabha on March 24, a day after his conviction in a defamation case by a court in Surat in Gujarat.

The Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asked to vacate his bungalow in Delhi after his disqualification as an MP, wrote stating that he would abide by the eviction notice."Without prejudice to my rights, I will, of course, abide by the details contained in your letter," he said.

Ranjit Savarkar said, "Rahul Gandhi is saying he won't apologise as he isn't Savarkar. I challenge him to show documents that prove Savarkar apologised".

According to sources, the Lok Sabha Housing Committee has given a 30-day notice to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to vacate the government-allotted bungalow.
