Manipur violence:The Congress leader was accompanied by former Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh, party general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal, PCC president Keisham Meghachandra Singh and former MP Ajay Kumar.

According to various reports, Biren Singh allegedly was given the option of either putting down his paper or else the Centre would step in and take over. In line with this, the chief minister had no other choice rather than to sever his resignation.

The Congress leader reached Imphal on Thursday for a two-day visit to conflict-ridden Manipur. He departed for Churachandpur district where he will visit relief camps to meet people displaced by ethnic strife that shook the northeastern state since early last month.

Manipur violence:Police said that Rahul Gandhi's convoy was stopped at Bishnupur, 20 kilometres from Imphal, over security concerns. Officials have urged the Congress leader to take a helicopter instead of travelling till Churachandpur by road.

The Congress party claims that Rahul Gandhi's visit will provide a healing touch so that society can move from conflict to peace. It also expressed its solidarity with "all individuals affected by the violence and those who have been displaced amidst the ongoing turmoil"

Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge said that the case was filed after seeking a legal opinion. Speaking to reporters, the Congress minister said, "BJP always cries whenever they are asked to face the law. They have a problem following the law of the land."

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited a bike repairing shop in Delhi's Karol Bagh market on Tuesday, continuing his public outreach initiative. He can also be seen repairing a bike and lending a hand to the mechanics in photographs shared by him.
