Her post came shortly after Imran Khan stunned the opposition by asking President Arif Alvi to dismiss the National Assembly. The President agreed with his suggestion and dissolved the legislature, clearing the path for new elections in Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif, the Leader of the Opposition in Pakistan's National Assembly, stated on Thursday that Imran Khan and the Speaker of the NA will face Article 6 of the Constitution, shortly after Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri dismissed a no-trust resolution against the Prime Minister.

"Absolutely not. Whatever happened today, Army has no role in it," Major General Babar Iftikhar, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), stated when asked if the military played a part in the events that led to the dissolution of the National Assembly.

The reactions come after the no-trust motion against the Pakistan Prime Minister was dismissed by the Deputy Speaker. Later, in a short address to the nation,Imran Khan has urged Pakistanis to "be ready for elections." "The plot to destabilise this administration has failed," he continued.

Addressing the nation, Imran Khan said, "I have written to the President to dissolve the assemblies. There should be elections in a democratic way. I call upon the people to Pakistan to prepare for elections."

To topple Khan's government, the Opposition parties will require the support of 172 members of the National Assembly's 342 members. They claim to have the backing of 177 members, which is more than enough to depose the prime minister.

Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) "lost the majority" in the National Assembly when the coalition's primary supporter, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), switched sides. The MQM said on Wednesday that it had reached an agreement with the opposition Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and would support the no-trust vote in the National Assembly's 342-member chamber.

This happened only a day before Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) faced a key vote on the Opposition's no-confidence motion. If the no-confidence motion is successful, Nawaz Sharif's brother Shehbaz Sharif of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) will be a leading candidate for the position of prime minister.

Khan's security has been tightened up as a result of the government's decision in response to these claims, according to Chaudhry, as cited in the Dawn daily. His remarks come a week after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Faisal Vawda said that a plot was being developed to murder Khan because he refused to "sell the country."
