The five-decade-long political career of senior TMC leader Partha Chatterjee seems to have come to a massive jolt with the Enforcement Directorate arresting him on Saturday in connection with its investigation into the alleged school jobs scam in West Bengal.

The BJP has demanded that probe agencies should question the top leadership of TMC as it stepped up its attack on the party after the arrest of West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee in an alleged jobs scam.

West Bengal Commerce and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in Kolkata on Saturday for his alleged involvement in the teacher recruitment scam.

A group of bold women among the Bengal revolutionaries took arms against the British empire. They are Pritilata Vaddedar, Kalpana Dutta, Bina Das, Kalyani Das, Kamala Dasgupta and Suhasini Ganguli.

Making the announcement in New Delhi, BJP president J P Nadda lauded Dhankhar as a "kisan putra" (farmer's son) who established himself as a "people's governor".

On July 7, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had said, "Don’t lend knowledge, intellect and housewife to anyone. If given, no refund is available."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Congress had become a family party, with many of its members fighting for democracy within the party.

Both the BJP and state Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar seeking the withdrawal of the remark, which they termed as reprehensible andunconstitutional.

Due to the dire situation with Covid-19, the mela was cancelled in 2020 and 2021.

"I killed my elder brother, arrest me," a man named Shubhashis Chakroborty repeatedly told authorities. According to various media reports, he led officers to the location of his brother's body, which was covered with a pillow over his face.
