The Congress party finds itself mired in internal conflict as Praveen Chakravarty, the data analytics head of the party, publicly criticised the Karnataka government's decision to reportedly hire Boston Consulting Group (BCG) at a cost of Rs 9.5 crore for six months.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Wednesday that he has set a bold target for Karnataka's economic future, announcing plans to elevate the state's GDP to $1 trillion by 2032 through robust industrial expansion. Speaking at the prelude to the Global Investors Conference scheduled for February 2025, Siddaramaiah emphasised a strategic focus on achieving annual industrial growth rates of 15 to 16 percent.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah denied any pressure from ministers or MLAs to change the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) in the Renukaswamy murder case. He emphasized no requests were made to replace SPP P. Prasannakumar, known for his competence, and he would not succumb to such pressure even if it existed, debunking rumours of interference.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has reached out to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, inviting him to participate in the pre-budget consultation meeting for the Union Budget 2024–25. On Saturday, the Karnataka government increased the sales tax on fuel with immediate effect, raising petrol prices by Rs 3 and diesel prices by Rs 3.02.

This development comes after one person died and several others fell ill from consuming contaminated water. "There have been reports of drinking water contamination in some parts of the state due to rains, posing a risk of cholera and other water-borne diseases," DK Shivakumar said.
