Defence Minister Rajnath Singh gave a send-off to the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) 7,000 km-long Vayu Veer Vijeta car rally from India Gate, New Delhi, to Thoise in Ladakh. The rally, crossing eight states and two union territories, will be officially flagged off to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh on October 8 to mark the IAF's 92nd anniversary.

The Indian Air Force's "Vayu Veer Vijeta" Himalayan Thunder Car Rally, spanning 7,000 km from Thoise to Tawang, aims to attract youth to join the Air Force and highlight its achievements. The rally, featuring 52 air warriors, including women officers, will cover 16 halts and 20 interactions.

The Defence Ministry has secured a contract with the US defense giant SIG SAUER to acquire an additional 73,000 SiG716 rifles for the Indian Army, valued at approximately Rs 800 crore.

Through this arrangement, both the countries would be able to acquire the industrial resources they required from one another to resolve unanticipated supply chain disruptions to meet national security needs.
