Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday landed in Kargil to spend Diwali with the soldiers, a tradition he has been continuing since 2014. The PMO said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has landed in Kargil, where he will celebrate Diwali with our brave soldiers."

Diwali is observed as one of the most significant Hindu festivals as per the Hindu Lunar calendar. The day marks the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and hope over despair.

This is the third time PM Modi will be taking part in a public event in the state in just over a month. He released cheetahs imported from Africa in the Kuno National Park on September 17 and unveiled the first phase of the 'Mahakal Lok' temple corridor in Ujjain on October 11.

Kishor also sought to rubbish welfare measures of the current regime, often credited for the BJP's electoral success in several states, pointing out "with free five kg of food grains, worth Rs 200, we are being shortchanged. Give us gas cylinders for Rs 500 instead".

The sixth edition of Deepotsav will be held this year, according to the PMO, and the Prime Minister will attend in person for the first time. PM Modi will also see a 3-D holographic projection mapping and a musical laser show at Ram Ki Paidi on the Saryu River.

At around 9 am, he will lay the foundation stone of the Kedarnath Ropeway Project. After that, he will visit the Adi Guru Shankaracharya Samadhi Sthal at around 9:25 am. The Prime Minister will review the progress of development works along Mandakini Asthapath and Saraswati Asthapath.

The posts on which appointments are being made include the central armed force personnel, sub-inspectors, constables, LDC, steno, PA, income tax inspectors and MTS among others, it read.

Addressing the delegates at the event, PM Modi said, "Some people prefer dropping AC temperatures to 17 degrees, this creates a negative impact on the environment… Our glaciers are melting, rivers are drying up... Mission LIFE will help in fighting the climate crisis."

In response to widespread criticism of declining employment figures, Prime Minister Modi declared in June this year that ten lakh new jobs would be created in the next 18 months.
