The engines will have indigenous content over 54 per cent, enhanced due to indigenisation of some key components of aero-engines. These would be manufactured at Koraput division of HAL.

A significant incident unfolded in Kedarnath on Saturday morning when a defective helicopter being airlifted from Kedarnath to Gauchar by an Indian Air Force (IAF) MI-17 chopper crashed near the Mandakini River in Lincholi.

The incident took place during a routine operation when the aircraft unintentionally deployed an air store, which refers to munitions, bombs, or other military equipment carried by the aircraft. The exact type of the air store involved has not been specified.

Developed indigenously under Project BHISHM (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog Hita and Maitri), these critical trauma care cubes will be used to effectively support the Human Assistance Disaster Relief (HADR) operations, even in the most remote and mountainous regions.

The Indian Air Force Chief, ACM VR Chaudhari, praised the indigenous Tejas fighter jet's performance in the Tarang Shakti 2024 exercise, highlighting its role in India's self-reliance. The multinational exercise, with 30 participating air forces, will continue in Jodhpur from August 29 to September 14.

He said after the second phase of the exercise which is scheduled to take place at Jodhpur in Rajasthan from August 29, the IAF will collate inputs from the debriefings of the exercise and then it will be decided how many countries will be invited for the air exercise.

In a statement, the British High Commission, in India said that the UK’s Royal Air Force contingent for this year’s Tarang Shakti comprises 130 personnel, six Eurofighter Typhoons, two A330 Voyager air-to-air refuellers and an Airbus A400M military-transport aircraft are participating.

A top official in the HAL said that there is nothing to worry about as “our production line is ready and we are resolving the minute things which are left. We will deliver all aircraft well within the stipulated timeframe.”

A source in the defence and security establishment said that the plane maker Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has promised that it would deliver the first aircraft by November.
