Petrol, Diesel Price Today, 22 June: Oil Marketing Companies have released the prices of petrol and diesel for today at 6 am. The prices, however, vary from state to state due to value-added tax, freight charges and local taxes. Let us take a look at the fuel prices across different cities

Fuel prices in India:At some places there has been a decrease in the price of petrol and at some places there has been a rise in the diesel price. However, the prices of petrol and diesel have remained stable in metros including Delhi.

FM Balagopal addressed the state Assembly and said that petrol and diesel prices will be hiked by Rs 2 per litre. He also announced that social security cess will be imposed on petrol, diesel and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).

The state government is expecting an additional revenue of Rs 400 crore through Social Security Cess on IMFL while the cess on petrol and diesel sale is expected to bring in additional revenue of Rs 750 crore to the Social Security Seed Fund.

In India, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) such as Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, and Bharat Petroleum revise their fuel prices every midnight based on international benchmark prices. However, there has been no change in petrol and diesel prices for quite some time.

Citizens may not be impacted because the fuel pumps will be open to selling fuel.

This will reduce the price of petrol by Rs 9.5 per litre and of diesel by Rs 7 per litre.

The fuel costs were last raised by 80 paise each on April 6, the 14th increase since March 22, which made petrol and diesel more expensive by Rs 10 per litre, respectively.

While talking about the Centre-state cooperation, PM Modi stated that several states had reduced their VAT on fuel after the Centre eliminated the tax last year, however, still, some states' VAT remains unchanged.
