Earlier, the Opposition parties had alleged that the Centre is arbitrarily using central agencies against opposition leaders and had asked for directions to agencies to strictly comply with the laid down guidelines for arrest and bail proceedings.

The parties are seeking pre- and post-arrest guidelines to be followed by the central probe agencies such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Mallya is an accused in the alleged over Rs 900 crore IDBI Bank-Kingfisher Airlines loan fraud case being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The central agency recently filed a supplementary chargesheet before a special CBI court.

The CBI on Sunday arrested deputy CM Sisodia in connection with alleged irregularities with an old liquor policy in a major escalation between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in the city and the Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre.

The CBI approved Sisodia's request to postpone the questioning. The investigation agency will issue a new summon soon.

The CBI also questioned AAP's communication in charge Vijay Nair, who is also being held in Tihar Jail in connection with the excise policy-money laundering case, according to the counsel. Previously, Nair was granted bail in the excise scam case.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging in his Mumbai apartment in June 2020. While the investigation termed his death as suicide, his family claimed foul play. Now, in latest development, Roopkumar Shah, who did Sushant’s postmortem, claimed the same and added that there were several marks on the actor’s body and neck.

The liquor scheme came under the scanner after Delhi LG VK Saxena recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged irregularities in the implementation of Delhi's Excise Policy 2021-22. He had also suspended 11 excise officials in the matter.
