Former Karnataka minister in the BJP government and a two-time member of parliament CH Vijay Shankar is reportedly planning to go back into the BJP fold by severing ties with the Congress. Vijay Shankar, a prominent Kuruba leader, was earlier roped in by former CM Siddaramaiah and was pitted against JDS' HD Deve Gowda in Hassan in 2014.

Siddaramaiah’s strategies to win the upcoming Karnataka bypolls include padayatra and Ahinda mantra to woo voters. However, BJP's CT Ravi said that the party has already begun its groundwork to "emerge stronger".
