The VSHORADS is a Man Portable Air Defence System (MANPAD) designed and developed indigenously by DRDO's Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories and Indian Industry Partners.

Sources in the defence establishment said that all gun systems procured in the last five years or are being procured, have been developed and designed in the country only, barring the Ultra-Light Howitzer.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that decision on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) should have been taken during 1971 war between India and the neighbouring country. 

Six Indian Air Force officers have been charged with murder after a trainee cadet, against whom a court of inquiry was initiated, was found hanging, a police officer said.

The bulletproof jackets should weigh upto 11 kg. It should be designed so that it can be worn as a jacket. The bulletproof jackets must cover the upper torso to protect the throat, chest, sides, groin and back of the user, besides being modular to ensure its use as per the threat level perceived.

The carbines should weigh less than three kilograms, without magazine and accessories and must be operated in temperatures between minus 200 degree Celsius and minus 100 degree Celsius. It should have a minimum service life of 15 years or 15,000 rounds, whichever is earlier. 

The Avalanche Monitoring Radar will assist in saving valuable life of troops and reducing damage to property in Super High Altitude Areas. The system was made operational by the DGRE of the Defence Research and Development Organisation.

According to the contract signed between the ministry and Brahmos Aerospace, the missile maker will be required to supply 35 combat and three practice BrahMos missile systems to the Indian Navy for its two Project 15B Ships, which means that of Visakhapatnam-class guided-missile stealth destroyers  

The Diving Support Vessels have a length of 118.4 metres, and 22.8 metres of width with a displacement of 9,350 tonnes. These vessels would be deployed for deep-sea diving operations.

Regarding the security challenges India faces, Admiral Hari Kumar said: "To the West, Pakistan -- despite economic constraints -- has continued its military modernisation, especially its Navy, which is on track to becoming a 50-platform force."
