West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended her greetings to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, stressing the importance of maintaining peace amidst the festivities.

The company, Mysore Paints and Varnishes, has been India’s sole supplier of indelible election ink since 1962. Indelible ink has already been supplied to most of the states in the country including the states; Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland and Mizoram.

Bengali couple Sairindhri Ghoshal and Debashis Chakrabarty narrowly escaped a knife attack at a Sydney mall, where six people died. The Calcutta High Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate allegations from residents of Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, regarding crimes against women and land encroachment. The CBI established an email address, "sandeshkhali@cbi.gov.in" for complaints

One of the major players which is a factor in deciding the election results is the minority vote bank. There are only 5 such constituencies where only Muslim candidates have won. These include West Bengal's Murshidabad, Assam's Dhubri, Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla, Kerala's Malappuram and union territory Lakshadweep.

She further cautioned the gathering against attempts to incite riots during elections. "We will not accept the CAA, NRC, Uniform Civil Code… During elections, some people will try to engineer riots. Don't fall prey to the plot," she said.
