The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) commenced lie detection tests on Saturday for the main accused and six others involved in the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

A shocking incident unfolded recently near Pardi Police Station in Nagpur, Maharashtra, where an auto-rickshaw driver was assaulted by two female students and local citizens following a disturbing remark referencing the brutal Kolkata horror.

UdayanGuha defended the state government’s handling of the unrest following the incident, stating, “Despite provocations, the police did not baton charge when RG Kar Hospital was vandalised.”

In the viral footage, the elephant is seen writhing in agony as flaming iron nails are hurled at it from a nearby home. The situation escalated in another video where a group of individuals used burning rods to set the elephant on fire.

The Kolkata Police issued a statement on the incident, confirming the arrest and outlining the charges. "A complaint was received regarding the accused person, using the Instagram ID 'kirtisocial,' who uploaded three Instagram stories related to the recent incident at RG Kar Hospital. The posts disclosed the picture and identity of the victim, which is highly offensive in nature.

Mamata Banerjee had recently led a protest rally in Kolkata, demanding justice for the victim and calling for capital punishment for those responsible. As both the Home Minister and Health Minister of Bengal, her response to the incident has been under intense scrutiny.
