"I have received a request from the foreign ministry to investigate the possibility of severing relations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation," Zelensky said, adding that he would now "examine and work on this issue."

United States President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed "in principle" to meet and discuss the 'security and strategic stability in Europe'. However, the pre-condition for talks is that Russia does not invade Ukraine.

India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, TS Tirumurti has called all stakeholders to avoid the situation that further escalates the tussle.

"The danger is that they have a very high risk since they have not moved any of their forces. They've sent in additional troops," Biden told reporters in the Oval Office. "We have grounds to suspect they're staging a false flag operation in order to get entry," he added.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation has warned Russia that if it were to go ahead and use force to annex Ukraine, it will have to pay a high price for it.

Ahead of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation defence ministers' meeting, Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that the grouping will address critical challenges for European security, including Russia’s military build-up in and around Ukraine.

The US leader said Russia's citizens should know that they are not their enemies. The US doesn't think they want a bloody, destructive war with Ukraine.
