Delhi Police has filed an FIR against protesting wrestlers who were detained while marching towards the new Parliament building.They have been booked for rioting and other charges following a scuffle with security personnel after they were stopped from marching to the new Parliament building as it was being inaugurated.

As soon as the grapplers were bundled into the police vans, police officers cleared the protest site by removing the cots, mattresses, coolers, fans and the tarpaulin ceiling along with other belongings of the wrestlers.

The wrestlers have been demanding the arrest of WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accusing him of sexually exploiting several women grapplers, including a minor.

Wrestlers vs WFI chief:The court directed the police to file the report by May 12 when it will further hear the matter. The women wrestlers had approached the Supreme Court and two FIRs were registered on April 28.

Several wrestlers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar in the national capital since April 23 with a demand that the findings of a committee which was formed to probe sexual harassment charges against WFI chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh be made public.

The protesting Indian wrestlers got into a physical scuffle with Delhi Police late Wednesday night, and a wrestler was also injured in the process. Meanwhile, Vinesh Phogat has come down hard on the Delhi Police.

In a video being circulated on social media platforms, some of the protesters can be heard accusing a police personnel of attacking two wrestlers under the influence of alcohol.

Star wrestler Vinesh Phogat that complaints related to sexual harassment have been hushed up in the past by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). She alsosaid that the sports minister did the same this time by forming an oversight panel instead of taking concrete action.

Indian wrestlers continue their renewed protests against WFI and its president in New Delhi. Meanwhile, Vinesh Phogat has urged her sister Babita not to weaken the protests.
