Congress released its first list of 39 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and Rahul Gandhi has been fielded from the Wayanad seat in Kerala. The list also mentions that Shashi Tharoor will contest the polls from Thiruvananthapuram, whereas KC Venugopal will fight from Alappuzha.

In a major setback to the Congress party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) on Friday rejected the party’s plea against the Income Tax Department’s action against its bank accounts.

The Congress will release its final list of candidates today and meanwhile, Kerala has reshuffled the list after Padmaja Venugopal's exit from the party. K Muraleedharan will now reportedly contest from Thrissur.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday issued an advisory to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi following a review of the circumstances surrounding certain remarks made against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The announcement is expected during a public rally at Badanawar in Madhya Pradesh, where Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi will be in attendance.

“Sonia Gandhi's launch of the 'Rahul Yaan' has failed miserably 19 times. Efforts are on for the 20th attempt,” Amit Shah said, addressing a youth rally in north Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district.

Amidst the chants, Rahul Gandhi even went a step further, blowing a flying kiss to the BJP workers from his vehicle before proceeding on the yatra. The journey, aimed at uniting India, had entered Madhya Pradesh over the weekend, navigating through regions governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the death of second-year veterinary student Siddharth in Wayanad was shocking and a shame to the people. He said that Rahul Gandhi should take care of students in Wayanad instead of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that though the Left is an ally of the INDI Alliance, it is not the same in Kerala. Both the Congress and the Left are at different ends of the political spectrum. He was responding to Rahul Gandhi's candidature in Wayanad while CPI nominated Annie Raja in the constituency.

The Karnataka High Court has quashed the case against Mohammed Harris Nalapad, State Youth Congress President, relating to alleged money laundering. Nalapad staged a protest against the Enforcement Directorate's actions on Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The court ruled in favour of Nalapad, citing lawful dissent in the protest.
