Union Minister Anurag Thakur accused the government of being a "revdi" (freebies) and a "bevdi" (drunkards) government and questioned why it returned over Rs 144 crore to liquor companies without Cabinet approval.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena had sought a probe by the CBI after taking serious note of the inquiry report filed by the Directorate of Vigilance (DoV) which is believed to contain evidence of irregularities by the finance and the excise departments, both of which are handled by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has namedDeputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the case FIR filed in connection with the alleged irregularities in implementing the Delhi Excise Policy brought in November last year.The Friday morning raids by the CBI prompted Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and Sisodia to claim political vendetta.

Access to quality healthcare, jobs, and education should be seen as fundamental rights rather than freebies, Kejriwal said in his speech.

Sisodia claimed that the state government lost "thousands of crores of rupees" as a decision was changed 48 hours before shops were to open. He said it should also be probed why Baijal changed his stand that benefited some players and caused financial losses to the government.

Under the previous liquor policy, government and private agencies were allowed to operate liquor stores, and no alcohol discounts were offered.

"This is not corruption, Manish bhai; it is humanism. My wife did not commit a crime; she attempted to assist Assam during its moment of greatest need. hurling mud at others will not be tolerated. You will suffer legal ramifications," Biswa continued.
