The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light to moderate rain in Bengaluru and surrounding districts after a dry spell, with temperatures expected to drop slightly. Rainfall may continue for three days as a low-pressure system develops, bringing cloudy, cooler, and foggy mornings.

For more than a week, Mumbai has been experiencing heavy rains, resulting in significant water-logging in several areas. Last week, Powai Lake in Mumbai overflowed due to heavy rains, and water-logging was recorded in areas such as Dadar.

Karnataka saw heavy rainfall on October 4, with Kiragasur in Mysuru recording 122.5 mm. The IMD predicts continued rain in Bangalore for the next two days. A fallen tree branch in Pulakeshi Nagar was promptly cleared by BBMP, ensuring the safety of residents.

Bengaluru has faced continuous rain for three days, with thunderstorms affecting several localities. Major areas like Bommanahalli and Mysore Road experienced flooding, stranding motorists. The weather department forecasts more cloudy weather and light to moderate rain for the next 24 hours, urging residents to exercise caution.

Karnataka is experiencing a cold wave, with temperatures dropping each day. Dharwad recorded the lowest at 10.6°C, while other regions, including Bengaluru, Mysore, and coastal areas, saw varied temperatures. Foggy mornings and intense cold are expected to persist throughout the week, says IMD.

On Sunday, the heatwave gripped sections of Delhi, with maximum temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius in six locations. The maximum temperature at the city's base station, the Safdarjung Observatory, was 44.2 degrees Celsius, compared to 43.9 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Bengaluru and surrounding districts from October 3 to 9, due to stormy winds from Lakshadweep. Significant rain is expected, with thunderstorms likely in the evenings, and a yellow alert has been announced for October 4 and 5.

Amid massive rains and waterlogging in Bengaluru, Twitter users demanded that companies and businesses make work from home a permanent regime.There were reports of waterlogging in several low-lying areas and underpasses in various parts of the city, leading to traffic jams and affecting normal life.
