Weather update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a cold day to severely cold day in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, and severe cold waves in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. Due to cold weather conditions, schools across the country have extended their holidays.

A total of 7 MLAs including Dr Dhani Ram Shandil, Chander Kumar, Harshwardhan Chauhan, Jagat Singh Negi, Rohit Thakur, Anirudh Singh and Vikramaditya Singh took oath as Cabinet ministers.

Dalai Lama is said to be "the present incarnation of the previous thirteen Dalai Lamas of Tibet (the first having been born in 1391 CE), who are in turn considered to be manifestations of Avalokiteshvara, or Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, holder of the White Lotus".

The new Himachal Pradesh CM was all set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital today. Now, all his programmes will be rescheduled.

Bharat Jodo Yatra: Besides Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, his deputy Mukesh Agnihotri, and Congress' hill state chief Pratibha Singh walked alongside Rahul Gandhi in the Bharat Jodo Yatra as it completed its 100-day journey. Other newly elected Himachal MLAs, and AICC in-charge Rajeev Shukla, joined the yatra.

Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, a four-time MLA from the Nadaun constituency and the head of the Congress' election committee in the state, is a law graduate, began his career in student politics and went on to rise to the position of state unit chief.

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, a four-term lawmaker and the previous president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, is close to party leader Rahul Gandhi. He is a lawyer by education and emerged through the ranks of the Congress wing National Student Union of India (NSUI).

Supporters of Pratibha Singh marched to the city's Chaura Maidan area and started chanting slogans in support of the party's state chief and her husband, Virbhadra Singh. They even tried to block observers' vehicles, including Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

The meeting holds significance as the leaders are likely to decide on the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister's name. It is reportedly said that senior Election Supervisor Bhupesh Baghel, in-charge Rajeev Shukla, and Bhupendra Singh Hooda will reach Shimla around 1 pm today.

The Prime Minister further went on to say that Gujarat Election results proved how strong is the desire of the common man for a developed India. He also said that the message is clear whenever there is a challenge before the country, people show their faith in BJP.
