Microsoft hopes that beefing up Bing with ChatGPT will radically update online search by providing ready-made answers using multiple sources instead of the familiar list of links to outside websites. ChatGPT has sparked a gold rush in artificial intelligence technology (AI) with more than 100 million users testing the bot's capabilities, receiving essays, speeches, or law exam results within seconds.

Google unveiled an experimental conversation AI service called Bard, as it races to catch up with the wildly popular chatbot ChatGPT from the Microsoft-backed firm OpenAI.The service will be initially opened up to "trusted testers" before making it more widely available to the public in the coming weeks, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said in a blogpost.

Dell Technologies Inc will eliminate about 6,650 jobs, or about 5 percent of its global workforce. With this, Dell has become the latest tech company to announce layoffs. In a memo, Co-Chief Operating Officer Jeff Clarke stated, "The company is experiencing market conditions that “continue to erode with an uncertain future."

Unlike its tech peers, Apple grew much more slowly during the pandemic and its hiring over the past few years has followed the same general trend since 2016. Google, Meta, Amazon, and Microsoft have all fired thousands of workers amid uncertain macroeconomic conditions.

In a viral post on the anonymous workplace app- Blind, a software engineer shared that he was recently fired by Google after joining in the last two months. Before Google he was laid off by Amazon in November and Snap in September.
