When Shiv Sena MLA Yamini Yashwant Jadhav of the Eknath Shinde camp voted for the Speaker's election, the opposition MLAs in the Maharashtra Assembly chanted "ED, ED."

In a letter addressed to Shinde, Thackeray said that Shinde was being expelled for indulging in 'anti-party activities".The letter was drafted the day Shinde took oath as chief minister. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis took the oath with him as deputy chief minister.

In the photo, Shinde is seen kneeling near Bal Thackeray in his latest Twitter display photo, indicating his loyalty to his guru. Shinde altered his Twitter profile photo soon after taking the oath of office as Maharashtra chief minister.

After the ceremony, Shinde said that the development of the state will be his priority and that he would take all sections of the society along with him.

Addressing the media, Fadnavis said that following today's swearing-in event, they will have a cabinet enlargement, with Shiv Sena and BJP politicians taking the oath. "I will not participate in governance," Fadnavis added.

After a tumultuous week in which Uddhav Thackeray resigned after losing the majority of MLAs in his Shiv Sena in a mutiny, the BJP's Devendra Fadnavis is expected to return as Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Both the leaders requested a day of bail to vote in the Rajya Sabha election on Friday.

Devendra Fadnavis said: "Why do they hate Hanuman Chalisa so much? How can reading Hunaman Chalisa amount to sedition? If that is so, every Indian will commit this crime and the government can charge us with sedition."
