This list comes after senior BJP leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar joined the Congress, dealing a blow to the ruling party ahead of the May 10 Assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday (April 17) announced the third list of of 10 candidates. They also fielded Mahesh Tenginakai from Hubli-Dharwad Central held by former Karnataa CM Jagadish Shettar.

The BJP has so far named 222 candidates for the May 10 polls to the 224-member assembly. The last date for filing nominations is April 20.

Shettar's decision to part ways with the BJP came after the 67-year old six time MLA, a former Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, ex-Speaker and a party president in the past, was denied ticket to contest from the Hubli-Dharwad (Central) segment, which he represented in the outgoing Lower House.
