Apart from India, navies from the United States, Australia and Japan will be a part of the exercise. All these four countries will be carrying out the maritime wargame for the second consecutive year. Last year, the Japanese Navy had participated in the exercise after a gap of 13 years.   

The Harpoon is an all-weather, over-the-horizon, anti-ship missile, developed and manufactured by McDonnell Douglas that uses active radar homing and flies just above the water to evade defences.

According to locals, the ill-fated helicopter took off from the 254 Army Aviation Corps base, which houses the Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv.

So far, the drones are being operated for surveillance and reconnaissance missions only.
