The report by Reporters Without Borders notes that surveillance and censorship and reached extreme levels in China where currently 110 journalists are behind bars. Myanmar, with 62 journalists behind bars, Iran with 47, Vietnam with 39 and Belarus with 31 occupy the top five positions as the world's biggest jailer of journalists. 

'The United States would continue to remain steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the security of our partners. And we fully support India's ongoing efforts to de-escalate this situation,' Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Brigadier General Pat Ryder has said.

On Tuesday morning, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Army Chief General Manoj Pandey met Rajnath at the latter's residence and briefed him about the violent confrontation.

"Both sides immediately disengaged from the area. As a follow-up of the incident, our Commander in the area held a Flag Meeting with his counterpart to discuss the issue following structured mechanisms to restore peace and tranquillity," the Indian Army said in a statement.

The action comes after the OTT platform recently released a web series titled 'Sevak: The Confessions', which was found to be detrimental to national security, integrity and sovereignty of the country and India's friendly relations with foreign States.

"The gender equality and rational thought that the education policy aims to bring in cannot be allowed at state expense. It will lead to the negation of religion. It must be removed from the policy," IUML MLA N Samsudheen claimed in the Kerala Assembly.

After the video went viral, Congress leader Raja Pateria issued a clarification that his remarks had been misinterpreted and that what he really meant was to defeat Prime Minister Modi and his work.

For the last few days, passengers have been taking to social media to share their ordeal and the chaos they witnessed at the Delhi airport. 

The mishap happened around 8 pm, about 14 km from Lonavala hill station, near the Magic Point hill on the old Mumbai-Pune highway.
