Indian Railways Spokesperson Amitabh Sharma said, "The rescue operation has been completed. Now, we are starting the restoration work.  'Kavach' was not available on this route." According to Railways officials, a high-level probe has been initiated into the train crash in Odisha. 

"It's a big tragic accident. Railway, NDRF, SDRF and state government are conducting rescue operations. Best possible healthcare facilities will be provided," Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who visited the train accident site in on Saturday morning, said.

The deadly train accident in Odisha has resulted in a number of trains being either cancelled or diverted. If you are travelling in this section, do check with the Railways Train Enquiry before leaving home.

The accident happened around 7.20 pm near Bahanaga Bazar station when the train was on the way to Chennai Central station from the Shalimar station near Kolkata

During his visit to Manipur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had urged individuals to turn in their weapons to the security forces and administration. He also cautioned that a search-and-combing operation would be conducted soon, and possessing any weapon would result in prosecution.
