The EFL Cup 2021-22 saw its Round 3 commitments coming to an end on Wednesday. While the top sides from the English Premier League (EPL) have marched on, there was an upset as we review the matches from last night.

West Ham United avenges Sunday's defeat to Manchester United
On Sunday, United stole a win after West Ham failed to equalise late at the London Stadium through a penalty. However, three days later, the Hammers avenged the defeat at Old Trafford, winning 1-0, thanks to the lone strike from Manuel Lanzini. It was the first time West Ham had won at Trafford since 2007, besides being its first win against the side in the tournament.

Arsenal hammers three past Wimbledon
In a mini London derby, Arsenal hosted League One side AFC Wimbledon. The Gunners was the favourite to see it through, and it eventually happened, firing three past the minnow, thanks to strikes from Alexandre Lacazette, Emile Smith-Rowe and Edward Nketiah.

Chelsea edges past Aston Villa on penalties
Chelsea hosted Villa on Wednesday, but things did not turn out precisely easy for the former. It all ended 1-1 after Timo Werner and Cameron Archer had scored for both, respectively, at the regulation time. In the shootout, a couple of misses from Ashley Young and Marvelous Nakamba allowed Chelsea to edge past 4-3.

Leicester City has it easy against Millwall
Leicester travelled to face Championship side Millwall. Although The Foxes was coming off a rough patch, it managed to sail through to the fourth round following a comfortable 2-0 win, thanks to strikes from Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Tottenham Hotspur sneaks through against Wolves
Tottenham, too, has been shaky of late, as Nuno Espírito Santo's men travelled to take on his former side Wolverhampton Wanderers. It turned out to be a tricky tie, as it ended 2-2 after regulation, with Tanguy Ndombélé and Harry Kane handing a 2-0 lead to spurs before Leander Dendoncker and Daniel Podence levelled it. In the meantime, three misses from Wolves' Ruben Neves, Dendoncker and Conor Coady in the shootout allowed Spurs to see it through 3-2.
