India vs Pakistan battle for Basmati rice title boils over to European Union

India has reportedly applied for exclusive trademark that would grant it sole ownership of Basmati title in European Union, setting off a dispute with arch rival Pakistan. Earlier this year in January, Pakistan reportedly received GI (geographical indicator) tag for its Basmati rice.
