Bengaluru's City Market dwellers complain of garbage menace after festival

Mounds of garbage post Dusshera make life hell for shop keepers at Bengaluru's City market and other areas where the BBMP has failed to clear the rubbish. Traders and public at such places only hope that newly appointed mayor Gautham Kumar Jain sticks to his promise of the 100-day deadline to solve these issues.

Mayor's 100-day deadline to ensure garbage free and pothole-free Bengaluru may be far from reality as BBMP officials have failed to clear mounds of garbage from iconic City Market. Dried and stale plantain stems, pumpkins and flowers used during Dussehra festival are left behind by sellers and farmers. As the city has been witnessing frequent rains, trader are complaining about foul smell making it difficult to breathe. They appealed to the mayor to issue directions to solid waste management authorities to take appropriate steps.
