Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Civil Aviation General Vijay Kumar Singh (retd) has been coordinating the evacuation process from Poland.

President Putin informed the prime minister that Russia is trying to organise an urgent evacuation of a group of Indian students from Kharkiv through the humanitarian corridor along the shortest route to Russia.

It further asked nationals and students to "proceed to Pesochin, Babaye and Bezlyudovka as soon as possible". The advisory asked that the stranded citizens to reach the said destinations by 1800 hours (Ukrainian time) on Wednesday.

"PM is reviewing the situation in Ukraine twice a day. Evacuation continues. Now we've also deployed IAF plane for the same. About 2,500 people evacuated till this morning- they are being sent to neighbouring nations and being brought back from there," Singh said.

Football's global players association FIFPRO has announced two Ukrainian footballers have died defending their country following Russia's invasion.

"Ideally, we would prefer to proceed as planned, but if Russia-Ukraine tensions continue to rise, the date will be reconsidered," a Finance Ministry official said.

Indian Air Force has deployed four C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft to the neighbouring countries of Ukraine amidst escalation of conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
