Patanjali founder Baba Ramdev on Tuesday agreed to takedown the videos in which he had used communal slurs to target pharmaceutical and food company Hamdard and its popular drink Rooh Afza.

In December 2020, the testing laboratory in Rudrapur confirmed the substandard quality of the sweet, prompting legal action. Businessman Lila Dhar Pathak, distributor Ajay Joshi, and Patanjali assistant manager Abhishek Kumar were fined Rs 5,000, Rs 10,000, and Rs 25,000 respectively, in addition to their prison sentences.

In response to previous orders and observations by the apex court, Ramdev and Balkrishna have submitted separate affidavits tendering an unconditional apology for the breach of statements recorded in the court's November 21, 2023 order.

This development comes after Ramdev and Balkrishna tendered an "unconditional apology" before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, regarding advertisements released by Patanjali Ayurved that made extravagant claims about the medicinal properties of its products.

The apology comes after the Supreme Court had previously reprimanded Ramdev and Balkrishna for filing an incomplete apology, describing it as "mere lip service." The apex court is set to resume the hearing on the matter tomorrow, with both parties required to be present.

The court highlighted the violations by both Ramdev and Balakrishna under Sections 3 and 4 of the Drugs and Remedies Act, regarding misleading advertisements for medicines.
