Raj Thackeray criticised the efforts to stir controversy over the tomb of Aurangzeb and further stated that it had nothing to do with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He appealed to the youth to stop believing in history texts sent on WhatsApp and further said that they were being diverted from the original history.

Aurangzeb, who died over 300 years ago on February 20, 1707, was the longest-reigning Mughal emperor, yet his burial site remains an anomaly in the grand tapestry of Mughal tombs.

Violent clashes erupted on Monday night in Mahal area of central Nagpur, 2km from the fortified RSS headquarters, after protests demanding removal of Aurangzeb's tomb spiralled out of control, resulting in stone-pelting, arson, and attacks on police personnel.

Condemning the violence which broke out in Nagpur, Maharashtra over demands of removing Aurangzeb's grave, AIMIM national spokesperson Waris Pathan alleged that certain members of Bharatiya Janata Party "keep spreading hatred."

Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal are demanding the removal of Aurangzeb's tomb from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, citing his history of terror and temple destruction.

Rekha Vinod Jain, a woman Congress leader in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district, has been served a show-cause notice for comparing Parshuram, a Hindu deity, with Mughal ruler Aurangzeb on social media.
