NBA 2024-25 MVP: More than half of the season has already passed, and the picture for this year's MVP award is becoming clearer. Though multiple players are in contention for the title, we look at the top three players who are in prime contention to win it.
#3 Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Greek player, according to the NBA MVP straw poll, is in the third spot with 96 total votes and 430 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo’s stats are nothing short of incredible, but his team, Milluawake Bucks, is struggling. Giannis Antetokounmpo has failed to uplift his team, and that could be a cause of worry on the road to the MVP title.
#2 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
The 26-year-old is truly having a breakout NBA season this year. The Canadian basketball player has not only helped himself but also his team holistically. Both Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and OKC Thunder top in multiple stat sheets of the season. He has 32.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists per game with an incredible 52.3 percent field goal accuracy.

Though most of his points involve free throws, the impact that he has had on the Oklahoma City Thunder roster cannot be denied. The young core has had a mark for themselves in the pro league, and in the center of it is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
#1 Nikola Jokic
Last season's MVP, Jokic, has continued his dominance on the court. He is undeniably the most consistent performer in the league for a couple of years. Though the Denver Nuggets, unlike the OKC Thunder, aren't on the top, they have still fairly played brilliant basketball so far in the season. They are third-seeded with 36 wins and 19 losses.
While the Joker's monstrous stats make him the front-runner for the MVP award, he has scored 29.8 points, 10.2 assists, and 12.6 rebounds per game with a 57.7 % FG. Unlike other players on the list, Nikola Jokic is effective at both ends of the court, be it defense or offense.
