Rohit Sharma has become the fourth Indian batter after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli to complete the 11000 runs in ODI cricket.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma has added another feather in his international career during the Champions Trophy 2025 Group A match against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday, February 20.

Rohit Sharma has completed the 11,000 ODI runs, becoming the fourth Indian batter after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli to achieve this milestone in the format. Overall, the 37-year-old is just the 10th batter to reach this landmark in the history of ODI cricket, with the first being former India captain and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar in 2002.

Additionally, Rohit Sharma became the second-fastest batter after his India teammate and former captain Virat Kohli to accomplish the 11,000-run milestone in ODI cricket, completing the feat in 261 innings. The Indian skipper has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar, who took 276 innings to reach the same mark. Rohit Sharma was also the second-fastest batter to complete 10,000 ODI runs, achieving the feat in 241 innings in 2023.

Rohit mounted 11,000 runs when he hit the ball for a four off Mustafizur Rahman in the 4th over of India’s 229-run chase.

Rohit Sharma entered the Champions Trophy 2025 with 10,988 ODI runs. Before completing the 11,000-run milestone in his ODI career the Indian captain already broke into top 10 of leading run-getters’ list in the format by surpassing former India captain Rahul Dravid's tally of 10,889 runs, thanks to his blistering 119-run knock against England in the second ODI. Rohit required just 13 runs to complete 11000 ODI runs, but he was dismissed for just 1 run in the third and final ODI of the series against England.

Rohit Sharma has managed to score the remaining 12 runs required for him to complete another milestone of his illustrious career in the Champions Trophy 2025 match against Bangladesh.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided good start to India’s run-chase

Indian bowlers managed to bundle out Bangladesh for 228 despite resilient innings by Towhit Hridoy (100*) and Jaker Ali (69) to revive the side’s batting from a shambolic situation of 35/5. Mohammed Shami picked fifer while conceding 53 runs at an economy rate of 5.3 in 10 overs. Harshit Rana (3/31) and Axar Patel (2/43) too contributed to India’s bowling by combining to take five wickets. Axar Patel missed an opportunity to complete the hat-trick as Rohit Sharma dropped Jaker’s catch at the slip.

Chasing a 229-run target, India openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a good start to the team’s innings as the pair did not take much to get settled. India reached the 50-run mark in the 8th over of the innings. Rohit and Shubman were looking to form a good partnership until India captain was dismissed for 36 at 69/1 in 10 overs.

Thereafter, Shubman Gill was joined by Virat Kohli at the crease. Kohli is just 37 runs short of completing the 14000 runs in his ODI career.
