In a commanding performance at the Women's World Cup, Spain's star player, Alexia Putellas, showcased her talent and resilience, leaving a lasting impact on the match against Costa Rica.

Coach Jorge Vilda expressed Spain's intention to maximize Alexia Putellas' performance at the Women's World Cup following her brief appearance as a substitute in their dominant 3-0 victory over Costa Rica on Friday. The Spanish team showcased their prowess and status as contenders, bombarding their opponents with 46 shots while facing a defensive-minded Costa Rica. Although La Roja secured a comfortable lead with three goals in just six minutes during the first half, they couldn't further increase the margin.

The team received a boost in the 77th minute when Alexia Putellas, the reigning two-time Ballon d'Or winner, entered the match. There were concerns about her fitness after a truncated training session on Monday due to a past knee injury. Nonetheless, the Barcelona midfielder showcased her skill with some elegant touches during her limited playing time.
