As a continuation of the dharna, started last night, the opposition in Karnataka shouted 'Go back, go back' as Urban Development Minister KJ George entered the Assembly. Though the session was postponed twice, the situation did not come under control.
However, four bills were passed amidst the chaos.
The opposition has been demanding the resignation of Minister George, following allegations of DySP MK Ganapathy of harassment, who later was found dead in a lodge in Madikeri.
Opposition leader Eshwarappa accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of leading a government of murderers. Reacting to which, Siddaramaiah snapped back saying “We are not murderers, but you are.”
He requested the opposition not to stall the session in the name of dharna. “Do not hijack the session with your dharna,” he said.
But the opposition looked determined not to allow the session to continue. They said that the dharna would continue until George resigns from the ministry.
At this point, the angry chief minister declared, “Eshwarappa is trying to hijack the session, take him out of the Assembly.”
Following all the drama, the session was postponed. Meanwhile, the Speaker is holding talks with both the parties and trying to come to some consensus.
