- An old lady was seen dragging the patient inside the hospital corridors as she was not given stretcher
- Reacting to this CM Siddaramaiah said, ‘Let it Go.'
- BJP leader Yeddyurappa said, ‘No Reaction.'
The Karnataka Chief Minister gave the most careless answer to inhuman treatment of patients at McGann Hospital in Shivamogga. ‘Let it go,” he said when journalists asked him about a patient being dragged into the scanning room for the lack of stretcher.
However, the Opposition party which all the time is busy searching for reasons to belittle the ruling party too proved equally careless. The next CM candidate from BJP, Yeddyurappa too had nothing to say, and when asked about the issue all he said was ‘No reaction.’
I have no information on this matter so I cannot react, said Yeddyurappa when reporters asked him a question in this regard.
Background
An old woman was seen dragging her ailing husband in the corridors of the Shivamogga's McGann Hospital as the staff failed to provide a stretcher has not only held a mirror to the government hospital's apathy in the state but also triggered a blame game among the leaders.
A video started surfacing in the TV, and social media and the hospital staff was taken to task by the Human Rights Commission too. The Commission has filed a case in this regard, voluntarily.
However, the response of the current chief minister and the chief minister candidate from the ruling and opposition respectively has received flak from the people. Carelessness of the representatives is the main reason why the hospitals do not take immediate action to set the problem right.
In defence, the hospital staff told that the stretcher was being used to get another patient inside the hospital. The staff had asked the lady to wait, but she started dragging the patient.
But contrary to this, many patients in the hospital have spoken against the hospital staff. The staff allegedly demand bribe from patients. Reacting to the rumours, Shivamogga district hospital director Sushil Kular has said that action will be taken against those demanding bribe from the patients.
