Samrat Chaudhary took oath as the new Chief Minister of Bihar. His father, Shakuni Chaudhary, credited the achievement to the blessings of senior NDA leaders Amit Shah, Narendra Modi, and Nitish Kumar. Other NDA allies also welcomed the move.
Reacting to Samrat Chaudhary becoming the new Chief Minister of Bihar, his father Shakuni Chaudhary on Wednesday said the achievement was possible due to the blessings of senior NDA leaders.

Speaking to reporters, Shakuni Chaudhary expressed happiness and said that by the grace of Amit Shah, Narendra Modi, and Nitish Kumar, this position has been attained. "Sometimes it is by the grace of God. We fought the entire battle but did not succeed. Today, by the grace of Amit Shah, Narendra Modi, and Nitish Kumar, this position has been attained," he said.
NDA Leaders Welcome New Government
Meanwhile, speaking to ANI, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) National President Upendra Kushwaha also expressed confidence that the new government would meet public expectations. "People have considerable trust in the government as well as expectations. I believe that the government will certainly live up to these expectations," Kushwaha said.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh said the NDA government in Bihar would continue to follow the development roadmap laid down during Nitish Kumar's tenure. "It was an NDA government, and an NDA government has been formed again. This is a matter of joy for us. Nitish Kumar made up his mind to go to Delhi, and after discussions within the NDA, Samrat Chaudhary was chosen as the leader. The roadmap for development, prepared earlier, and efforts towards social harmony will be taken forward," he told ANI.
Speaking to ANI, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad also welcomed the development, calling it a moment of satisfaction for the party and alliance. "This is a moment of satisfaction and joy. A BJP leader has become the Chief Minister, and he is the Chief Minister of the NDA. The work that Nitish Kumar has done in 20 years is the standard, and moving forward with that, Bihar will progress a lot," he said.
A New Era in Bihar Politics
Earlier in the morning, BJP leader Samrat Choudhary took oath as Bihar Chief Minister, succeeding Nitish Kumar, who had served as leader of the state for over a decade before deciding to go to the Rajya Sabha. Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain administered the oath of office to Samrat Choudhary at Lok Bhavan in Patna.
He becomes the first BJP Chief Minister of Bihar following the resignation of Nitish Kumar. His elevation marks the end of an era dominated by Nitish Kumar's "Sushasan" (good governance) and the beginning of a new chapter for the NDA in Bihar.
Political Lineage and Career
Born in 1968, Samrat Choudhary comes from a family deeply rooted in politics. His father, Shakuni Choudhary, was a six-time MLA from the Tarapur constituency. His mother, Parvati Devi, won the same seat in 1998 for the now-defunct Samta Party.
Samrat Choudhary was appointed as the BJP's state president in 2023 and later became the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar in 2024. (ANI)
