A Beagle dog named Dottu was allegedly kidnapped by a food delivery man attached to Zomato in Pune. While police refused to file complaint, Zomato personnel asked for details and assured action.
Pune: A customer of food delivery aggregator, Zomato, complained that her Beagle dog named 'Dottu' was stolen by the Zomato delivery boy. She tweeted the details on the social media platform.
Replying to the same, Zomato said that it was 'not acceptable'.
"Hi Vandana! That's totally not acceptable. Please help us with your contact details or the order details via DM and someone from our team will reach out to you at the earliest."
Earlier, customer Vandana had tweeted, "#missingdog kidnapped by Zomato delivery guy Tushar on 7thOct from Poona at Karve Road, Deccan in Pune."
According to CCTV footage, Dottu was last seen playing and roaming inside the premises of her home-factory complex premises before he went missing.
After Dottu remained untraceable for many hours, the worried couple, started searching for their pet in their neighbourhood but failed to trace him. They also approached the police, who assured them about looking into the matter.
Shah said that on enquiring from a few food delivery guys at an eatery near their home, one of them recognised the dog and said it was taken away by his colleague.
"We took his contact number and asked him about Dottu. Tushar confessed to having picked him up but when we asked him to return the dog he started making up excuses and said that he had sent him to his village. We also offered him money in exchange for our Beagle but he kept on giving us evasive answers and for the last few hours, he has switched off his cellphone," said Shah.
Shah and her husband also claimed that while they were assured of help by police yesterday, the police refused to register a complaint.
Zomato has been in news lately for many reasons. Recently, a video of a Zomato delivery man eating the food from the delivery package had also gone viral. Reacting to the same, Zomato had suspended the delivery man from service.
However in the case of stealing a dog, there is no video proof for the same but Zomato has promised to take necessary action against the man if found guilty.
