Mizoram police seized drugs, including heroin and methamphetamine tablets, worth over Rs 25 crore in multiple operations. Several individuals, including two Myanmar nationals, were arrested in connection with the seizures.
Mizoram police seized a large quantity of drugs worth over Rs 25 crore in separate operations in the state over the past few days. According to the Mizoram police, on March 31, Aizawl District Special Branch (DSB) team intercepted two Myanmar nationals, Thanglianmung (26 years old) and Manglianthang (23 years old), both of Thinglei, Tidim district, Myanmar, near Tawngtaimual, Zemabawk area.

Heroin Seized in Aizawl, Two Myanmar Nationals Held
"During the checking of their belongings in the presence of a witness, 9 soap cases containing 104 grams of suspected heroin were recovered and seized. The value of the seized heroin is estimated at around Rs. 20.4 lakhs. In this regard, a case has been registered at Bawngkawn Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and their forward and backward linkages are being investigated," H Ramthlengliana, IGP (HQ) of Mizoram police said.
Multiple Seizures by Saitual Police
On March 29, the Special Team of Saitual Police, while conducting a check at the outskirts of Keifang, recovered and seized 242.79 grams (20 soap cases) of suspected Heroin, valued approximately Rs 48,55,800 from the illegal possession of Md Eliyach Hussain (46 years old), who was driving a vehicle proceeding from Manipur towards Aizawl. Saitual PS Case U/S 21(b)/25 ND&PS Act was registered for further legal action and investigation, according to the police.
"On March 28, the Special Team of Saitual Police, while conducting random checking at the outskirts of Keifang, recovered and seized 1.927 Kg (177 soap cases) of suspected Heroin valued approximately Rs 3.86 crore from the illegal possession of Mangminlun (26 years old) and Ginlemlal (24 years old), driving a vehicle proceeding from Manipur towards Aizawl. A case has been registered at Saitual Police Station under sections 21(c), 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act, and further legal action and investigation are underway," the IGP of Mizoram police said.
On the other hand, on March 27, Saitual Police, while conducting random checking at Kualmawi, Keifang, intercepted one motor vehicle, driven by Zamchinlam (27 years old) and carrying one occupant, namely Dothanglen (Lelen) (36 years old), proceeding from Manipur towards Aizawl. Upon thorough checking of the said vehicle, 200 soap cases of suspected Heroin, weighing 2.298 kg, valued at Rs. 4.596 crore, were recovered and seized. A case has been registered at Saitual Police Station under sections 21(c), 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Major Methamphetamine and Arms Haul by CID
"On March 25, CID (SB) Operation Team intercepted one truck proceeding towards Aizawl from the Seling side at Tuirial near Tuirial Bridge. Upon thorough search of the vehicle, 19.836 kg of suspected methamphetamine tablets (Yaba), valued at Rs 15,86,88,000, were recovered from a fabricated chamber inside the vehicle's headliner. Additionally, one handgun manufactured in the USA, along with two magazines and 40 live rounds of 9mm 19 ammunition, was recovered from a concealed compartment. In this regard, the driver of the vehicle, Lalhnehzova (23 years old), was arrested. A case has been registered at the Special Narcotic Police Station vide Spl. Narcotics PS under Sections 22(c)/25 of the ND & PS Act read with Section 25(1AA) of the Arms Act," the IGP of Mizoram police said.
Khawzawl Police Recover Heroin, Seize Contraband
On April 1, a Special Team from Khawzawl PS recovered and seized 2 (two) soap cases suspected to contain Heroin No. 4 from the illegal possession of one juvenile of Champhai Tlangsam at Tuisenphai Check Gate. The two soap cases weighed 23 grams, valued at Rs 4,60,000. Hence, a case has been registered at Khawzawl Police Station under section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway, police said. The juvenile-in-conflict-with-the-law was forwarded to Principal Magistrate, JJB Khawzawl, for further legal action.
"The same team on March 31, 2026, at 11:00 PM, intercepted one vehicle at the Venue at Tuisenphai Check Gate. During the checking of the vehicle, 20 cases of Foreign Cigarette v/o Rs 800,000 were recovered from the vehicle and seized in the presence of witnesses. The consignments were forwarded to Asst Controller, Legal Metrology, Champhai, for further legal action," the IGP of Mizoram police said. (ANI)
